How to Compete
We offer both in-person and virtual opportunities to compete in the Dakota Aerial Championship.
Register As a Team
New is 2025! Studios can register their full team by filling out the form attached below. Download the spreadsheet and email it to info@sdaerialarts.com. Once this is received and validated, a member of the Dakota Aerial Championship Team will send over an invoice for registration.
Get Spectator Tickets
All spectators to the event are required to purchase a ticket to attend.

1- Where is the Competition Located?
The in-person competition is located at South Dakota Aerial & Arts in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Their studio has a full mezzanine of bleacher seating and has a beautiful black curtain for a backdrop.

2- Can I Bring My Own Apparatus?
Absolutely! Just make sure that your apparatus follows the guidelines outlined in the competitor packet. Group routines require studios to bring their own equipment, due to the unique nature of the routines.
3- When Can I Submit My Virtual Performance?
Virtual performances can be submitted using the virtual submission form between October 1 - 31, 2025. Please read all of the rules and requirements prior to submitting your routine. The script is provided that must be read on camera before your performance is recorded.
4- When Will I Compete
Virtual competitors must take and submit a one-take performance video by October 31, 2025.
In-person competitors will get free open gym time on November 7 and will compete live on November 8, 2025
Awards will be hosted and live streamed in the morning of November 9, 2025
5- How Long Will it Take to Get my Judging Feedback?
Full judging feedback and comments will be provided to coaches and athletes within approximately two week of the end of the event. This feedback will be sent via email. The judging criteria has been streamlined in 2025, but here is one example of feedback from our 2023 competition.
6- How Can I Submit My Music For Approval?
Submit your music using this form. Music is due by October 24, 2025. Make sure your music follows the guidelines for your divisio and category as laid out in the competitor packet.
Apply to Judge or Teach a Workshop
We are looking for judges and coaches to teach workshops at the Dakota Aerial Championship. Judges are welcome to judge virtually from anywhere, in person or a hybrid of the two. All workshops must be on aerial silks, hammock or lyra, unless the workshop coach can supply at least 6 apparatuses of their choosing for the given workshop.
All judges and workshop coaches will be compensated for their efforts.
