Aerial Performance Team

Join the aerial performance team. Learn choreography, improve your skill level, and get the opportunity to perform and compete on the South Dakota Aerial & Arts team.

Info About The SDAA Team

Join our Youth Aerial Performance and Competition Team to learn the art of aerial silks, hammock, and lyra. Our program is open to athletes Ages 6-18, and offers unique opportunities for group performances, solo acts, and competitions, providing a platform for young aerialists to showcase their talent. Our expert coaches provide personalized coaching for choreography and skill development, ensuring each participant reaches their full potential.
 

Tryout Information:

Our Youth Performance Team is an invite-only program for students who are ready to take their aerial training further. If your child is interested in joining the team, please contact us at info@sdaerialarts.com so we can help determine the best next step.

Team Schedule:

Performance Team members meet for weekly team practice based on their level

  • ​​Performance Team Levels 1 & 2 

Wednesdays 6:00pm - 7:00pm

 

  • Performance Team Level 3

Thursdays 4:30pm - 5:30pm
 

Students also attend at least one additional weekly aerial class as part of their membership. Class options depend on the membership selected, and the student's current skill level.

 

Membership Options:

Performance Team - $165/month

  • Weekly team practice

  • One additional youth aerial class per week

  • Unlimited open gym

Performance Team+ - $200/month

  • Weekly team practice

  • Unlimited youth aerial classes

  • Unlimited open gym

Performance Opportunities

Team members build performance skills through group and solo routines, with opportunities to perform throughout the year and compete if they choose. Students have many exciting ways to showcase their talents locally, including summer farmers markets and our studio’s Spring and Fall showcases. Optional in-person and virtual competition opportunities are also available throughout the year!

My kid has prior experience with aerial - will they be able to attend?

We offer opportunities to perform to all performance team students, regardless of skill level. We welcome higher-level; students the opportunity to try out and be a part of the team. Group pieces and solos will be selected based on skill level and work ethic.

Are costumes provided, or how are these handled?

Specific costumes will be selected for group pieces. We try to keep costume costs affordable, as these are not included in the monthly registration fee. All solo performance costumes must be selected and purchased independently.

How do you ensure my kid is safe?

All of our aerial rig points were created specifically to be safe are sturdy. We have worked with certified riggers to evaluate the space, and frequently inspect and upgrade equipment. We have crash mats under each apparatus and foam flooring to keep your child safe. Safety is a number one priority in our studio across all of our classes.

What should my kid wear to class?

We recommend wearing a full length shirt and leggings that go past the need with no zippers. This will prevent chaffing and maximize comfort. No jewelry other then stud earrings are permitted on on the fabrics.
